Major Shades of Fall

4 Sep

So school has started & the humidity has dropped a little, so now I’m starting to finally believe Fall is in the air (then again, I don’t want to speak too soon). Now it’s time to slowly translation ourselves from those bright neon colors & fun, funky patterns to some subtle, but colors you won’t expect to add some “ump” to your fall/winter wardrobe.

Of course we have those neutral colors, or base colors. You know the browns, tans, navy, & so on. But the Fashion Godswere kind enough to understand we fashionistas like change. We like personality. So surprisingly they’ve added some pinks & bright reds. Not to mention the mustard yellows & teals. I don’t know about you, but I’m super, EX-Pee-Ala-Do-siously (I know that’s not a word) excited!

So here you have it, the Major Shades of Fall.

Sty(LUX) Chronicles: Target Style, I Love You!

27 Jun

IFB Project #101

If you’ve been keeping up with me here on the blog & on my other social networks, you already know how serious my love for Target is. That’s definite my go to store for EVERYTHING. But mostly, that’s my #1 pick when shopping for clothes.

With the variety of both your weekend style & looks for the office, Target has it all. Not only are the prices very reasonable, but the quality is great. There’s not a day that goes by, where Target style is not incorporated in my outfit. I can honestly say, I’m legit addicted!

The best thing ever, are the collaborations Target style does with awesome designers and brands. I’m trying to wait patiently but I’m so anxious for 3.1 Phillip Lim to drop his collection on September 15th of this year at Targets worldwide.

It goes without a doubt how badly I would love to work with Target Style. Promoting, hosting, & networking worldwide as the face of Target Style. I have goosebumps with just the thought of it.

Here are some of my favorite outfits where Target Style is featured!

Chambray shirt, Cargo Pants, & Pumps from Target

White Tee, Colored Pants, & Pumps from Target.

Bracelets, Clutch, & Pumps from Target.

I know I’m not the only one looking uber stylish in my Target wear. Follow me on Instagram & Twitter @StyluxByKJay & hash tag #StyluxLovesTarget.

Cropped Top Diaries: Look #2 (DIY)

This cropped top look consist of two trends in one. Not only are cropped tops hot this season, so is color blocking. Don’t be afraid, neither one are your enemies, just make them work for you!

DIY Project:
I took this regular H&M tank & put a nice little knot in the front for that cropped top effect.

Cropped Top Diaries : Look #1

13 Jun

The cropped top & midi skirt set trend is all over. Amongst us fashion bloggers, our favorite celebrities, & top designers all understand & love this trend. In an earlier post view here, I put together this monochromatic striped cropped top & skirt found at Top Shop & surprisingly Beyoncé rocked it as well!

I’ve been finding some great things on this new app Poshmark. Some cool “poshers”, with some cool stuff. I found this posher located in Texas who was selling this custom made bodycon cropped top & midi skirt set. Instantly, LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT! Purple is not my color, but it became an option once I saw this.

Bodycon: very tight fitting material that is now my new found best friend.
The material was perfect! Holding in all those problem areas (and there are a lot), & flattering those areas we love the most!

The mesh insert at the bottom of the skirt adds the extra touch of sexy, & what woman doesn’t wanna feel Sexy?!

Cropped Top Diaries: A Series of Looks.

9 Jun

Cropped tops. You know those shirts that show off your midriff. I know, I know, don’t kill me but, actually they work well with different body types. Now, the trick to making cropped tops work for you if your conscious of your mid section is a high waisted bottom or a layer over the crop top.

This week, I’ll be doing a series of cropped top looks. You know, ways to make a cropped top work for you & not against you. Now I’m just as nervous as you are, but I’ll take on the challenge. Here are some looks to get you in the cropped “tippy” top feel of things.

Khadijah, where the hell have you been?!

8 Jun

I know, I know, it’s been a while, matter of fact a damn LONG TIME! Today marks the day that I make my return. Got some important & serious issues out of the way. During my absence I’ve been somewhat fasting, or cleansing. I’ve also start dieting & working out. & I feel great!

On to way better things, yesterday I received an email that I’m Instyle Magazine Reader Of The Week! Yikes!! I’m still in utter shock, & I’m so grateful!

Check me out on InStyle’s Reader Of the Week. Stay tuned to the July issue where I’ll be featured!

Good shit huh?!

A White T Weekend!

5 May

Happy May! I know I’m like 4 days late, but better late then never. I’m finally able to catch my breath & get my thoughts straight. It’s like I’m forever doing a million and five things! But that’s neither here nor there.
This weekend was extremely awesome! I’ve had the pleasure of meeting a couple cool people. I’ve met with the owner and founder of a new online store Dear Laney (make sure you check out they’re cool vintage pieces), & you won’t believe this. I ran into Dylana, from Color Me Nana and the face of Free People!! I can’t believe it, I’m still in shock!
In the meantime I paired up with Eboni over at The Fashionista Next Door for her highly anticipated Style Me Friday. This weeks inspiration was your basic white t shirt.

(My complete outfit is from Target, including the shoes. The ribbon belt and clutch are thrifted.)

My baby cousin couldn’t get over the silver tip on my pumps. He just kept pointing.

Here’s Cali, the owner & founder of Dear Laney, and Dylana from Color Me NaNa. How cool are they, well WE? Hahaa.
